At The Lisboan, our secondary school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that sustains curiosity and nurtures a love of learning. Just as in our Primary years, students are encouraged to explore big themes, develop critical thinking and approach school with excitement and confidence.

World-class courses

In the secondary school, students follow Cambridge International General Certificates of Secondary Education (IGCSEs). These globally recognised qualifications provide an excellent grounding in up to seven subjects, building a strong platform for success in the IB Diploma Programme. Alongside academic study, students participate in a wide range of enrichment opportunities to maintain balance, creativity and wellbeing.

Students will extend themselves in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, where they will study six subjects which will include one from each of the following areas:

Studies in Language and Literature
Science
Language Acquisition
Mathematics
Individuals and Societies
The Arts

Our secondary school students progress to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, studying six subjects across key areas including Language and Literature, Science, Mathematics, Individuals and Societies, Languages and The Arts.

The IB also develops essential skills through three core components:

Extended Essay: independent research culminating in a 4,000-word paper

Theory of Knowledge: reflection on the nature of knowledge through presentation and essay

Creativity, Action and Service (CAS): arts, physical activity and service projects that foster creativity, wellbeing and social responsibility
