CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN LISBON (Ages 5-11)
STRONG FOUNDATIONS FOR LEARNING, CONFIDENCE FOR LIFE
The Primary Years are a time of tremendous growth, curiosity and discovery. At The Lisboan, we combine the academic rigour of the Cambridge Primary Programme with a highly personalised, student-centred approach that helps every child develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.
Our students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, take risks and make meaningful connections between what they learn and the world around them. Through engaging learning experiences, strong relationships and a supportive environment, children develop the knowledge, skills and character needed to thrive both now and in the future.
At The Lisboan, Primary School is about far more than academic achievement. It is about helping children develop the confidence, curiosity, skills and character to become capable learners, thoughtful citizens and resilient young people ready for the opportunities ahead.
Students follow the internationally recognised Cambridge Primary Programme, supported by evidence-based approaches such as White Rose Maths and daily literacy development.
Students develop confidence and fluency in English while also building a strong understanding of Portuguese language and culture. Portuguese pathways for both native and non-native speakers ensure every child receives the appropriate level of support and challenge, while Year 6 students begin learning French.
Six transdisciplinary themes each year help students make meaningful connections across subjects and understand how learning relates to the real world.
Students benefit from specialist teachers in Portuguese, French, Art, Music, Computer Science and Physical Education, while maintaining the security of a dedicated Homeroom Teacher.
At the end of every theme, students present their learning to families, developing confidence, public speaking and reflective thinking.
Students enjoy Physical Education three times each week, promoting wellbeing, teamwork and healthy habits – swimming, parkour, cricket, and invasion games are a few examples of activities included.
Small classes, strong relationships and personalised support ensure every student is challenged, supported and valued as an individual.
