Welcome
In a world that’s rapidly changing, how will The Lisboan prepare your child for their future? We will prepare them with a dynamic education that emphasises innovation, sustainability, and global citizenship. Our forward-thinking curriculum and inclusive community empower students to make a positive impact locally and globally. Made in Lisbon, Ready for the world.
Fundamental to our school are five key Values that everyone in The Lisboan family brings to life:
kindness | curiosity | connection | resilience | integrity
Underpinning these values – and everything that we do – are our three BOA Principles:
we all belong to a kind and caring community in which we learn together
we own our individual futures which gives us the opportunity to become the best version of ourselves.
we act in a positive way that supports our own growth as well as those around us.
Through these principles we develop students who have an enterprising curiosity, an undefeatable sense of self, resilience in their pursuits and studies and who respect human differences. These principles will support students to act with integrity and above all demonstrate kindness to self and others. A BOA graduate will have experienced real life situations and presented to authentic audiences which will have equipped them with a tool box to ensure they:
Through Our Values, the BOA Principles, our curricular and enrichment experiences, and the way we operate as a community, our students and teachers strive to be:
Inquirers | Open-minded | Knowledgeable | Caring | Thinkers Risk-takers | Communicators | Balanced | Principled | Reflective
Ultimately, we all understand that we have an active role to play in our world. We act sustainably to preserve our resources, improve biodiversity and manage our planet with care, now and into the future. And we include others, celebrate our diversity and ensure equity of opportunity. We want your children to love coming to school, connect with each other & their teachers, and explore their place in the world.

We’re delighted to be breathing new life into a former pasta and flour factory, right in the heart of Alcântara, a dynamic community in western Lisbon, which attracts entrepreneurs and families from around the world. In our stunning home, The Lisboan offers a truly exceptional modern and sustainable learning environment, while honouring the building’s industrial heritage. We’re proud to put down our educational roots in this wonderful region we’re committed to serving.
A stunning building of industrial significance, A Napolitana, as it was known, dates back to 1908 and remained in operation until 1970. It’s now home to The Lisboan and we’re excited to open our doors to our first students in September 2024.
Industrial heritage meets a truly exceptional modern learning environment. We’ve preserved the façades and as many of the original features as possible, sympathetically renovating and repurposing 20,000 square meters of space into cutting edge facilities and inspirational learning spaces for our young people.
Our aim, to provide a carbon neutral education, starts with our building. Our school will harness the sun’s energy, while maximising shade and cooling to keep our everyday carbon use as low as possible.

We have reimagined our facilities as innovative, flexible and forward-looking learning spaces, whilst simultaneously harnessing our natural resources to make The Lisboan as energy efficient as possible.
The Alcantara neighborhood is a well-connected hub with excellent rail, road and tram links. There’s also a new metro line coming soon.
