Everything we do at The Lisboan is guided by our BOA Approach: Belong, Own, Act.

These three principles shape how students learn, grow and contribute to the world around them. More than a framework, BOA is a mindset that helps students develop confidence, character and a strong sense of purpose.

BELONG

Before children can thrive, they need to feel that they belong.

At The Lisboan, every student is welcomed into a diverse and dynamic international community where they are known, valued and respected. Through strong relationships with teachers and peers, students develop a sense of connection, confidence and wellbeing that allows them to engage fully in school life.

We believe that when students feel they belong, they are more willing to take risks, embrace challenges and grow. These are core traits for the leaders of tomorrow.

OWN

We encourage students to take ownership of their learning, choices and personal development.

Through reflection, goal setting and meaningful learning experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of their strengths, interests and potential. They learn to recognise their unique talents and understand the role they play in shaping their own success.

By taking responsibility for their learning journey, students become confident, independent and resilient learners.

ACT

Learning should lead to action.

We want students to develop a strong moral compass, a sense of purpose and the confidence to make a positive difference. Whether contributing to the school community, engaging with the city through our Lisbon as a Classroom Programme, or taking on leadership opportunities, students are encouraged to turn their ideas into meaningful action.

We empower students to recognise opportunities, make thoughtful decisions and become active participants in the world around them.
